Hit the ground running with handy tips & tricks for Planet Coaster 2

Planet Coaster 2 puts you in charge of running your very own theme park and water park, handling everything from building rides to managing your staff.

As a new Park Manager there will be a lot on your plate, so we’ve put together some useful tips & tricks to help you get started.

Mastering Paths

Building your theme park isn’t always... a walk in the park! Try mapping out your park with paths before placing down your shops, coasters and other facilities.

Not only will this make building your park easier, but it should also mean you don’t spend ages creating an area, only for it to clash with the rest of your theme park.

Another great tip is to master and stick to the pathing tools that work for you. Other than the new Line Builder tool, there are also Classic Paths, from Planet Coaster 1, and the Stamp Builder. Each of these tools has their own benefits and can be used together to create amazing spaces for your guests.

Building Your First Rollercoaster

No one becomes a master coaster builder overnight! Our top tip for building your first custom rollercoaster is to take your time and get used to the creation tools first. Keep your ideas simple at first (think coasters for kids) and slowly work your way up to bigger and better rides!

We’d also recommend testing your coaster as you build, so you can spot any issues with your ride straight away. Plus, it’s always fun to watch coaster cars fly off unfinished tracks!

Canny Management with Staff Zones

Keeping track of all your staff can be one of the hardest parts of managing your park. Staff Zones allow you to assign staff to specific areas of your theme park, so you’ll always know where they are... even when they’re on break!

These zones can be as large or small as you like meaning your level of control can be as broad or as granular as you want.

A great trick we’d recommend is hiring staff members who only cover your other staff members’ breaks! This way you can make sure that none of your services are interrupted when your staff need to take five and your additional workers will do less hours, so won’t need breaks themselves.

Saving Time with the Scenery Brush

Building your theme park has never been quicker and easier! Add the perfect finishing touches with the scenery brush to fill in empty areas, making everything look vibrant and complete.

You can create your own custom scenery brushes by applying scenery objects, like balloons, trees or even logs and rocks to different sized brushes. These are perfect for quickly and diversely decorating areas of your park.

Quick Queuing

To make sure entry to your rides are smooth and seamless, it’s important to use the correct type of queue! If you’ve created a wildly popular ride that everyone wants to go on, your standard queues might get a bit too long for some guests.

Creating a priority queue when you build your rides will let anyone who buys a priority pass move into a separate queue that will get them onto the ride quicker. It’ll bring down the wait time of your standard queue and make you a bit of extra cash!

Shortcuts to Success

Learning shortcuts for Planet Coaster 2 will save you loads of time and fiddling around.

We recommend mastering handy shortcuts like:

  • Opening the radial menu to quickly move between tools – Alt button/ (Hold) Y Button on Xbox/ (Hold) Triangle Button on PlayStation
  • Quickly cancelling placement of scenery objects – Right mouse Button/ B on Xbox/Circle Button on PlayStation
  • Changing the height of your paths – U Button (Raise) and J Button (Lower)/ (Hold) X Button on Xbox/ (Hold) Square Button on PlayStation

Learning these shortcuts will help you to quickly navigate your park and menus, allowing you to focus on your fantastic creations!

Future-proofing Your Park

Prepare and manage your park for the future by researching new rides and facilities! Placing workshops for your Mechanics to acquire Research Points is important when creating an innovative park that your guests will return to time and time again.

Spending your research points will open up new ride possibilities for your theme park, and new opportunities to keep your guests happy.
