Park Manager's Handbook: Creating with the Event Sequencer

Hayo Park Managers!

We've recently welcomed the new Silver Screen Pack to the stage in Planet Coaster 2! This has been one of our favourite packs to bring to life (check out our Behind the Scenes for more info on that process!), and we've already see some amazing creations from the community and our lovely content creators!

In this month's Park Manager's Handbook, we're taking a look at the Event Sequencer. With the all the brand-new and returning animatronics in the Silver Screen Pack, this fantastic tool is incredibly useful for anyone who wants to build immersive and interactive displays in their theme park.

Event Sequencer Tips & Tricks

The Event Sequencer is a tool that allows you to layer multiple triggerable items from special effects, fireworks, animatronics and even music into displays that entertain and delight your guests.

Organising Your Tracks

For every object you add to an Event Sequencer it will get its own track within the sequence, with up to 100 individual tracks per Event Sequencer. That's a lot of effects!

This allows you to have total control over when an animatronic moves, a firework goes off or a special effect is deployed.

Get more detail instructions on how to implement the Event Sequencer in our Customisation guide.

Tip

When you're creating a large display with lots of tracks it's important to check how everything flows together and appears for your guests. Use the 'Play Trigger Sequence' button to check how each object interacts with each other throughout the duration of the display to make sure each item deploys when you want them to. It's helpful to do this as you add new triggerable objects so you don't need to search each track for the one little effect that might need changing!

Choosing Trigger Items

There are a whole host of trigger items, aka pieces that can move, light up, make noise or go off, in Planet Coaster 2!

Every theme has a selection of amazing animatronics to choose from, but there are also special effects, like floating petals, hazy smoke and puffs of dirt, fireworks and confetti cannons.

Scenery

You can select how these objects are self-activated in the Event Sequencer Info Panel. Choose from:

  • On Trigger Only - This is used when creating scenery areas for your rides and coasters so animatronics will go off when a train car passes by.
  • Looping and on Trigger - You can select how regularly this will loop in hourly increments.
  • Continuous - Forever and ever!

Tip

Before you build a display, make sure you have a clear idea of what you'd like the final design to be and where you'd like it to go in your park! This will make it easier for you to choose from the huge selection of triggerable scenery items, without being disappointed that the massive spider from the Sorcery Pack doesn't quite fit, or that the exploding pirate barrel from the Pirate theme gets lost behind other animatronics.

Did you know?

If you want a display for a group of guests to trigger themselves, take a look at Event Points. These are like Vista Points with an in-built Event Sequencer and you can even choose your guests reaction.

These can be built into your themed areas, like food courts, entrances and walkways, or even as part of your scenery outside a coaster.

Creating a Whole Experience

To create truly immersive moments for you guests, connect speakers to your sequences and select music or ambient sounds to play as certain objects are triggered, like crashes, shots or stunts. Layering together the audio and visuals of these areas in your parks will take your theming to the next level quickly and easily!

Tip

Try matching up your animatronics with specific special effects and audio tracks to take the design from 0-100! For example, items like the Stunt Fall Dumpster in the Silver Screen Pack fit perfectly with the special effect for cardboard boxes collapsing and newspapers flying in the air. When wrapped up with other stunt animatronics in a whole display, choose a music track to add extra drama for guests when played over any connected speakers.

Build Idea Inspiration

Now you're got an understanding of how the Event Sequencer works, why not give a few of these ideas a go? Or use this little list as inspiration and build your own displays!

  • Pirates fighting across a lake on two ships
    • Use the pirate & cannon animatronics from the Pirate theme and explosion special effects for a thrilling duel!
  • A dragon outside your Fairytale castle
    • Choose one of the cute dragon animatronics and add the mist and glitter special effects for a whimsical touch.
  • An exhilarating police car chase (Requires the Silver Screen Pack)
    • Use one of the Chase loop animatronics, adding explosions, tumbling rumble and cool music for drama!
